Marie Claire turns 21 this year and we want to celebrate it with you by sharing quotes from our lovely ladies remembering when they were 21. Today, we have Patricia Knudsen sharing with us her story of what it was like when she was 21.
Patricia Knudsen is Danish/Malaysian who grew up in Denmark but lived previously in countries such as Hong Kong and Japan. She decided to move to Malaysia in 2008 to experience her roots and what she found instead was a career in modelling and soon after that, as TV and radio hosts.
“When I was 21… I made a lot of mistakes, I was extremely stubborn and I would waste my time on things that I now laugh at. I cared what everyone thought of me which made me insecure and my imagination my worst enemy. But even then, I was determined to become a better person, learn from my mistakes and make sure I would stride to reach a point where I would be comfortable with who I am and find happiness in a life that might seem like a dark hole at times, but can only get better depending on my own choices and focus. Have fun, don’t take yourself so seriously, work hard, and always remember your family and friends. Life isn’t fair, but it’s amazing.”
