TABLE FOR TWO
Make a date of love at these romantic eateries around town.
TEXT TAN LEE KUEN

Be prepared to sweep and
be swept off your feet.
From stylish fine-dining
restaurants to intimate
jazz bars and quaint coffee
houses, these establishments exude
romance through their very ambience
while tantalising your palate. Be sure to
call ahead to make reservations for two
and do ask for the best spot in the house.
7ATE9
(Ascott KL, 9 Jalan Pinang, KL; 03-21617789)
Good for: Wining, dining and clubbing
Not the place to go for an intimate date but
great for showing off your fun-loving side.
It has good Continental food, lovely views
of Petronas Twin Towers, an extensive
drinks list and pulsing house music for
dancing later all in one place. And if the
conversation gets stilted, there is plenty of
eye candy to wash your eyes with.
CAFÉ CAFÉ
(175 Jalan
Maharajalela, KL; 03-21458141)
Good for: Francophiles.
Tucked unassumingly away from well,
everywhere, this little gem of a restaurant
is an ode to amour. Decorated to the hilt
with antiques and bric-a-brac carefully
sourced by the owners, and softly lit
by good-looking chandeliers, it gives
the impression of an opulent Parisian
boudoir. The Continental menu has
highlights in the pan seared foie gras and
Wagyu cheeks, and is evenly matched by
a good wine list.
PACIFICA
(Mandarin Oriental
Hotel, Jalan Stonor; 03-23808888)
Good for: High-end seafood
Designed by Stephane Dupoux to mimic
an Atlantis kingdom, the lavish décor
complements the stellar culinary cuisine,
which is highly inventive and offers
the very best of seafood. With tables
somewhat shielded from prying eyes by
sheer curtains, you can play nooky while
having your gnocchi. Take note though
that the restaurant does not open on
Sundays, and only for dinner. |
