New formulas and new products are pushed by beauty brands monthly, and I'm all for trying the latest serum which claims to give your skin the #nofilter glow-up, or the heavy duty moisturiser that won't budge when you're off to travel in some cold, freezing, subzero temperature country.
That being said, over the past two years of having the privilege to try and test new skincare products, here is what I've found myself going back to again and again.
#4 This cheap and cheerful aloe gel
Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel, RM13
Empty count: Three 300ml tubs
Hands up if you’ve seen a skincare product that comes in 300ml tubs, at such a price. I went through three tubs of this gel as I use it as a soothing moisturiser, particularly when I suffered from heavy cystic acne. Nowadays, this serves as a light day moisturiser if I don’t intend to put on makeup. At night, I treat it as a mask – but choose to top up your skin’s moisture levels with another layer of moisturiser. Besides this, I use it for sore burns after laser treatments, sun burns, or even for dry patches of skin on my elbows and knees.
