Hit the snooze button one too many times? Don’t worry, I’m guilty of that too! *wink*
If you’ve only got about 5 minutes to get ready, I recommend keeping your routine short and simple. Here, I’ll show you how to create an easy fresh-faced look using only 5 products:
Tips to keep in mind:
1. Skip Foundation
Opt for a high coverage creamy concealer instead. Use it to brighten your under eye area and to conceal any spots or blemishes. Use gentle dabbing and pressing motions to blend the concealer out for a natural finish. I’m currently loving IT Cosmetics’ Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Ageing Waterproof Concealer because it has excellent coverage, is long lasting, and contains hyaluronic acid to keep your skin hydrated all day long.
2. Invest In A Multipurpose Palette
I absolutely adore versatile palettes that can be used in a variety of ways. If you’re in a hurry, stick to nude and neutral shades for a natural no makeup-makeup look. Lots of brands make these palettes, but the one that I’m currently into is Tarte’s Tarteist Pro Glow Highlight + Contour Palette because it has a nice balance of matte and shimmery shades. Apply a light champagne shade onto the inner corners of your eyes, and onto the high points of your face to brighten up your complexion. Then define your eyes, cheekbones and jawline using a soft matte brown shade.
3. Double Up Lipstick As Blush
This isn’t a new tip, but it sure is a useful one if you want to shave time off your routine. Using a creamy lipstick (I used Christian Dior’s Rouge Dior 277 Osée in the video) will give your skin a fresh dewy look, while a matte lipstick is more durable in hot and humid weather.
4. Your Eyes Are Important
Adding definition to your eyes, lashes and brows will instantly brighten up your eye area, and make you look more fresh and awake. Give your lashes a good squeeze with your eyelash curlers and apply lots of mascara for definition. Wiggle your mascara at the roots of your lashes to create the illusion of a thicker lash line. (Try this: IT Cosmetics Superhero Waterproof Mascara) If you can’t go without liner, just draw a wing on the outer corners of your eyes for a lifted effect. Fill in your brows with some powder from the highlight + contour palette from before.
5. Go For Thin Layers
To make sure your makeup lasts all day with minimal touch-ups, go for sheer, thin layers. For colour makeup, build up the intensity gradually and blend everything well for a seamless finish. Finally, lock everything in place with a translucent powder (my favourite is Laura Mercier’s Loose Setting Powder) or a setting mist.
