Our skin is easily affected by the environmental pollution around us and these impurities can penetrate our skin easier when the skin barrier is weak.
Recently, I was given a chance to try out the AsterSpring Intense Hydra-Light Therapy.
The hydra-light therapy is a treatment the uses various colour of LED ultra lights to overcome facial skin challenges including ageing, sensitivity, dehydration, uneven skin tone, oiliness or acne. There are three lights used in this treatment depending on skin problems. The blue light is used for sensitive skin to reduce bacteria breakouts, redness and irritation. The purple/violet light is used to speed up healing process and allows new skin cell formation. The red light is used to stimulate collagen levels and reduce any sign of rapid ageing such as wrinkles and fine lines.
I was greeted by AsterSpring’s beautician, Elaine with a warm smile and the hospitality there was good. Before beginning the facial treatment, Elaine asked me a few question about my daily eating habits, allergies and skin condition to ensure I was given the required treatment in the best way. Once done with the Q&A, we proceeded to the changing room where I was given a locker for my belongings and a facial gown to change into.
The 90 minutes treatment began with Elaine inspecting my skin under a high light while explaining the problems on my skin. I have avery dry skin with uneven skin tone (thanks to the hot weather in Penang) and some deep blackheads. Elaine then deeply double cleanses my skin to remove any dirt or makeup stains with Dermalogica products.
She exfoliated my skin to remove dead skin cells on the skin’s outermost surface with a coconut fibre cleanser and it smells so good. Elaine then continues with the extraction process where she extracted blackheads from my skin for a smoother surface. I was shocked to see the amount of blackheads I was keeping in my skin.
The treatment continued with the LDM Machine which is an ultrasound machine that helps to lift and firm up the skin. Elaine continued with the best part of the treatment, AsterSpring Signature Massage. Their signature chakra opening followed with face and shoulder massage using aromatic essential oil was everything I needed after a long week at work.
She applied cold gel to my face to soothe the stinging reaction from the extraction earlier and started to prepare the LED light for me. Elaine chooses the purple light for me as my skin is delicate to allow my skin to heal from the massive extraction earlier. After 15 minutes of light therapy, Elaine applied an Isotonic Bio-Cellulose Mask and continued with a back and shoulder massage.
Finally, some toner, moisturizer and sun protection cream was applied marking the end of the facial.
To be honest, my skin felt smooth and super hydrated but I was worried about the red marks I got from the extraction process. However, Elaine ensured me that it will go away in 2 to 3 days. Gladly, as Elaine said, the extraction marks disappeared after 3 days and my skin felt soft without the usual bumps. No more dry and lifeless skin. O AsterSpring provided me with Hydrablur Primer and Antioxidant Hydramist skincare products from Dermalogica. I have been using the non-greasy primer before applying my makeup for more than one week now and my skin smoother.
