Want to know how to look like a K-POP star? Why with makeup of course!
1. PREP YOUR SKIN
To achieve that flawless complexion that all K-POP stars have, invest in good skincare. Once you have a proper skincare routine down pat, you won’t have to spend so much time and effort on applying foundation. If you’d like to know more about the 10-step Korean skincare routine, read my article here.
In this video, Jessica Jung shows you a simplified version of her skincare routine. It’s important to prep your skin before applying any makeup.
2. FLAWLESS BASE
To even out any uneven skin tone and eliminate any redness on the skin, try using a BB cushion foundation or a apply a lightweight liquid foundation using a damp beauty blender or makeup sponge. If your skin is a little dehydrated, add a drop of skincare oil or serum into your foundation for that dewy effect. BB cushion foundations are super easy to use and you can get a flawless complexion within seconds. It’s easy to carry around for touch-ups throughout the day too! Lots of brands make these now. My go-to cushion foundations are by Laneige, Moonshot, Lancôme and Sulwhasoo. If you don’t want to look too dewy, you can mattify your T-zone with a translucent powder.
3. SLIGHTLY ROUNDED BROWS
Brows play a huge part in the overall K-POP star look. Draw your brows straight but with the arch slightly rounded. This will make the eyes appear feminine yet sexy at the same time. If your hair is dyed lighter than your original hair colour, set your brows with a lighter coloured brow gel so that they match.
As seen here, HyunA wears her brows in a slightly rounded shape
4. BRIGHT LIPS
Go for a bright shade of pink, coral, red or plum on the lips. Apply it from the centre and blend it outwards to form a gradient effect, or wear it full-on for a bold pop of colour. Apply a similar shade onto your cheeks as a blush. Avoid any contouring. If you do contour, keep it looking extremely natural.

5. SHARP GRAPHIC CAT EYES
For a graphic cat eye look, use a liquid or gel eyeliner. Go for a sharp wing and you can even draw a parallel line on the outer lower lash line to make the eyes appear bigger. Heat your eyelash curler using a hairdryer to get a longer lasting curl on your lashes. Apply lots of mascara and pair the look with a pinkish nude lipstick, lip gloss or a bright lip.

6. COOL HAIRCUTS, BIG WAVES OR TOP KNOTS
For your hair, the simplest way to look like a K-POP star is to do a top knot. Simply gather your hair into a high ponytail, twist it around to form a bun and pin it in place. You could also go for large voluminous curls or an edgy shorter haircut. Whatever the hairstyle you choose, wear it with confidence!
And that’s how you can look like a K-POP star! The video by Michelle Phan below was filmed 3 years ago but is still very much applicable!
