Hello makeup lovers! Today, we’ll take a look at the difference between Korean and American makeup styles. There’s no denying that Korean beauty is taking the world by storm with their cushion foundations, BB creams, mask packs and adorable packaging. A lot of Western brands are now even taking to creating products inspired by the Korean market.
Quite a number of beauty YouTubers have created their versions of Korean VS American or Western style makeup, and the results are pretty interesting! It’s fascinating to see how the standard and concept of beauty differs from country to country. Our diversity is truly what makes us all beautiful.
KOREAN VS AMERICAN MAKEUP
For Korean makeup, it’s all about looking youthful, fresh and radiant; whereas American women tend to prefer a sun-kissed look with arched brows, contoured cheekbones and full sultry lips. Here are 5 obvious differences between the 2 makeup styles:
Korean women tend to gravitate towards straighter and fuller brows as they lend a more youthful, innocent look to the face. This year however, slightly rounder-shaped brows are preferred for a more feminine feel. American women on the other hand prefer a more defined and arched brow to look sexy and sophisticated.
Korean women are well known for their dewy glowing skin while American women prefer matte skin, with contoured cheekbones and shimmery highlights on the high points of the face.
A gradient effect on the lips using bright pinks, corals and reds are often seen on Korean women to give the appearance of sweet rosebud lips. American women prefer lining their lips with a nude lip pencil and going over it with a matte nude lipstick for a full and sexy pout.
Korean women usually choose subtle and shimmery pink, peach or champagne shades on their eyelids. For eyeliner, they tend to only fill in the upper lash line with a brown or black eye pencil and extend it slightly outwards for naturally defined looking eyes. American women tend to go for bolder smokey eyes and strong graphic cat eyes.
Korean women don’t normally wear false eyelashes and tend to prefer naturally curled eyelashes with a coat or two of mascara. American women however like long flirty eyelashes with tons of volume and impact.
