Ascend the steps to 54 Blanc Saloon – the interior of TTDI’s newest pamper place boasts a cleverly designed white, minimalist space – walls of mirrors placed strategically as private booths for manicures, hair cuts, a VIP hair party space for guests.
I started my afternoon at the colour bar, a mirrorless bar stocked with tubes of colour, where my stylist Peggy sat me down to discuss the new direction my hair would be headed.
I had no expectations — after going a full head of purple at the start of 2017 (1/1/17 to be precise), I was a bit hesitant to do another deep bleach dive. Instead of giving my hair new flair, Peggy and I decided on enhancing my blonde ends with baby highlights, with soft layers of ash, brown, and blonde courtesy of L’Oreal INOA’s odourless, ammonia-free, full white-hair coverage colour. “Don’t worry, we use Olaplex here,” Peggy promised, and I breathed a sigh of relief.
After a careful brush and bleach session that lasted for 30 minutes, I was ushered to the basin for a quick rinse. Olaplex No. 2 was used for 7 minutes on my hair, before Peggy applied tones of ash grey and cool browns. The L’Oreal Majirel Cool Cover colour used, she explained, is a long lasting colour that fades (the more I wash my hair) into a subtle neutral cool tone instead of warm, brassy, yellow streaks. This also means less maintenance for touch ups!
This is the first time reality matched my expectations. I envisioned a layered, soft smoke and mirrors balayage - and I got it! Peggy assured me once more - the more I wash my hair, the lighter (and ashier) it will get. Taking in my delightful fresh new tresses, I snapped a photo for my girlfriends' approval.
54 Blanc Saloon rates range from RM160 for colour touch ups to RM300+ for long hair. Highlighting and bleaching start from RM160 with consultation. I was extremely pleased with my experience, and I highly recommend anyone to give them a try!
