This interview with Jason Godfrey is from our June 2013 issue, when we shot the studly hunk for a sexy beauty spread. Gorge on the pics, soak up the interview and… swoon?
On first impression, Jason Godfrey is really your everyday guy, easygoing and down to earth, plus the hefty biceps, loads of charm and model-worthy good looks to boot. All that aside, I sat down post-shoot for a quick chat to our ‘hot guy who cooks’ and Asia’s Next Top Model male ‘babe’ extraordinaire for a gripping peek into the workings
of a man’s mind. We turn the tables and present a guy’s perspective on what he finds sexy in a woman – read on with caution.
MC: Are u a boob, butt or leg man?
JG: Legs. Especially if they’re well shaped. (Chuckles)
MC: Pick one option, and don’t regress: brain smarts
or book smarts?
JG: High grades are sexy, but I’d go with street smart.
MC: Audacity or kindness.
JG: Audacity is more interesting, but kindness is better. Audacity.
MC: Confidence or coyness?
JG: Confidence. Hands down.
MC: What makes you instantly attracted to a woman?
JG: A person who can give as good as I do, like she can talk sh*t to me. I think that’s interesting.
MC: Breaking the enigma of models who date models – your girlfriend is a model, so why her, and would you date a non-model?
JG: The girl I’m dating now, I like her because she’s not like a model. She has drive, she has a good work ethic, she likes going out and making things happen instead of sitting at home and waiting for things to happen. I would defi nitely date someone who’s not a model, a normal person who doesn’t come with the baggage that a model comes with.
MC: Which is more important: the beauty a woman projects from the inside or how she looks and takes care of her appearance?
JG: The beauty she projects from the inside, but that being said a girl who’s well-groomed is also important. Like if she has a moustache she has to take care of it. (Chuckles)
MC: (Feels upper lip with trepidation)
MC: Does being a model or being regarded as good looking ever go to your head
JG: Yes (snorts). No. I don’t think of myself like that, partially because guys that I think are good looking have lots of character on their face. Whenever I snap photos I have it in my head that i look good, but when I look at the photo I think no because I have a lack of character in my face, so it’s easy to stay grounded.
MC: A woman asking you out or making a move on you – is that scary, desperate or appealing?
JG: Women throwing themselves at me is definitely a good thing!
MC: Ah. (Rolls eyes)
JG: But it would depend on the context of what was happening, like maybe we were talking but the conversation was leading that way. In general I like girls making the move on me.
MC: What is the one thing you look for when interested in someone?
JG: I would need to talk to them and get some initial impression about them, rather than just looking at them. Something that would instantly make me attracted to a girl is stuff like a sense of humour, a person that can laugh at themselves and not take everything seriously.
MC: List 3 things you find attractive in a woman. (Raises eyebrows)
JG: Confidence, concern about what’s happening in the world and the environment, humility and being comfortable with yourself.
MC: That’s 4. (Smiles with confidence and humility) 3 things you find unattractive in a woman?
JG: Vanity, insecurity and a lack of humour. I hate girls who are constantly messing with their makeup and fussing with their hair.
