I’ve always been a huge advocate of massage.
Its positive healing effects are indisputable. It promotes blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, reduces water retention, soothes frazzled nerves and muscles, and even increases the flexibility of your joints. It also stimulates collagen production and gives your skin a healthy radiant glow.
How Do Massages Reduce The Appearance Of Cellulite?
Firm and vigorous massages help to improve blood circulation and stimulate the drainage of lymphatic fluids within the targeted area. This reduces the dimpled appearance of the skin that’s normally associated with cellulite. However, according to CNN Health (source: Livestrong.com), cellulite returns about 6 months after treatment, so subsequent sessions are necessary to maintain its effects. That, a healthy diet, and plenty of physical activity.
A Contouring Experience at Clarins Skin Spa
Clarins has recently introduced their new Contour Shaper Treatment, to specifically target cellulite underneath the arms, around the abdomen, as well as on the buttocks, and thighs.
Step 1: Consultation
As you set foot into the spa, a beauty therapist will evaluate the overall quality of your skin. That includes assessing your skin’s texture, blood and lymphatic circulation, concentration of adipose (fatty) tissue and tissue firmness.
Step 2: Bath Time
Once you’re in the treatment room, you’ll be required to take a shower. The spacious bathroom is equipped with nourishing shower gels and a huge plushy towel. A locker is provided for you to store your clothes and personal belongings. You will also be provided with a disposable pair of underwear, to be worn during the treatment.
Step 3: Aromatherapy & Vigorous Massage
When you’re clean and comfortable, you’ll be ushered onto the massage table. The therapist will dim the lights in the room, and cover you with a large warm towel. As classical music plays softly in the background, your senses are enveloped by the relaxing and intoxicating scent of essential oils. The therapist gets to work with the 40-minute massage using a rejuvenating blend of Tonic Body Treatment Oil and Body Shaping Cream. Firm gliding and pressing motions help to release tension and stimulate lymphatic drainage.
Step 4: Warming Mask
After a thorough massage from head to toe, a potent mixture of the new ClarinsPRO Active Contouring Supplement and Thermo-Activated Contouring Mask is applied thickly onto the targeted cellulite areas. Both contain quince leaf extract, horse chestnut and aquatic mint extract to promote micro-circulation and eliminate water retention.
The mask will be left on for 10 minutes. It feels icy cold to the touch but it gradually heats up and provides a comforting warming effect. A muslin cloth is wrapped over the mask to keep it in place.
Step 5: Body Fit
For the final step, the therapist applies a generous amount of Clarins Body Fit Anti-Cellulite Contouring all over your body. It has a cool tingly sensation and it further helps to reduce the appearance of cellulite.
Step 6: Aftercare
It is recommended to apply Body Fit consistently (using firm upward sweeping motions) on the targeted areas after bath to maintain the efficacy of the treatment.
The new Contour Shaper Treatment (RM365/60mins) is available at all Clarins Skin Spa outlets nationwide. Visit the website here for the full list of outlets.
