One of the myriad of super talented Creative Directors I look forward to seeing the creations of every season, Alessandro Michele composed an eccentric ballad for Pre-Fall 2017, filled with fantasy elements of fire-breathing dragons, rainbow wings and rabbits that look like they were taken straight out of a Folk-tale. And paired with these kookie-chic looks were a strong line of bags as trustee side-kicks, each style embodying its own personal quirk.
There’s always something new added to Gucci’s expanding range of iconic arm candies, and it’s all a little different than the last thing you laid eyes on, or the next thing you’re about to see. Whether it’s in the shape, the print, the embellishments or simply what iconic words-of-wisdom Alessandro feels like engraving, nothing was conventional and ordinary in the collection; everything was adorned by a surprising detail or two. And two of those new additions are these top handle bags, the Queen Margaret and Iside Bags.
The Queen Margaret features a flap front adorned with a metal bee with pearls and crystals on the closure.
The Iside Bag, named after the Egyptian goddess of magic, features a metal lock closure with a feline head looking ahead with its red Swarovski eyes.
Aside from these new styles, the well-loved Sylvie Bag is now available as a clutch as well as a Maxi version.
This season’s GG Marmont takes centre stage decked in colourful floral embroideries and crystal appliqués, and it even comes in the shape of a belt bag (how he makes a fanny pack so desirable is beyond me).
Available in a Black or Cobalt Blue with wordplay, the inner interior of the GG Marmont embroidered velvet bag is just as lush as the exterior, with silk satin lining with more-than-enough compartments lined up.
Below, our Malaysian influencers Cherrie Mun and Evangeline Yan take Gucci’s arm candies out for a spin around the city, proving just how versatile these eccentric treasures are.
