We are astonished by the beauty of this couture collection!
The Commonwealth Fashion Exchange 2018 in London witnessed a fashion fiesta with Bernard Chandran’s Malay traditional couture designs that impressed everyone including the duchess herself. The edgy couture collection certainly caught Kate Middleton’s attention, and she wanted to know more about the magnificent illusive designs.
Highlighting his cultural roots, Bernard creates a magnificent line of unique fashion toppers that incorporated traditional detail with a contemporary touch. The fancy royal Malay ornament included a songket bustier dress. The extravagant imperial fabric perfected with golden and silver thread provides an elegant and rich appearance to the dress.
The bottom part of the skirt is a unique fusion between the traditional kerawang materials with more sophisticated leather that refines the combination of modern and traditional craftwork.
Songket is a widely known fabric in Asia, but bringing it to the Birmingham Palace certainly increased its fame worldwide. Bernard’s geometric floor length overcoat certainly stole the show with its Chinese inspired phoenix design on the bottom of the lavishly elegant overcoat. Phoenix is acknowledged as the queen of all birds, represents beauty and provides a mythological shield from evil to its owner.
Bernard is certainly leaving a deep mark on the international fashion industry.
