Let’s face it, farting is a natural way of life. It’s like how we get our periods or need to release the food that we have consumed. On average, an adult farts 20 times a day. And if you think holding in your farts means that the air wouldn’t get released, you’re wrong on that. The air will just find another way to escape your body – i.e your mouth.
Even with the understanding that farts are totally normal, we still can’t help but cringe at the sound or the smell. And let’s be honest here, the farts can get pretty smelly depending on what you consumed for lunch or dinner. We’ve all been through the embarrassing moment when you had no choice but to let the flatulence out. You were saved from your fart being silent but there is no escaping the smell that comes along with it…
But luckily UK-based Company, Shreddies, is looking to save us. You’re probably no stranger to this brand. Shreddies brought to us the well favoured fart proof underpants and pyjamas a few years ago. The company is now expanding their network to target outer garments as well. Behold the flatulence filter jeans. Shreddies claims that these jeans will eliminate the worst smells that escape your body.
How do the jeans work?
The jeans, like all the other products from Shreddies, are lined with activated charcoal. Activated charcoal is a substance that easily absorbs odours and gases. We’ve probably purchased packs of activated charcoal for our new cars in an effort to remove the new car smell. It is also used as an anti bacteria ingredient for home air filters and purifiers as well.
According to Shreddies, the odour absorbing qualities of the jeans lasts two to three years. To make the best out of the jeans, you have to make sure that the jeans are tightly fitted. This will ensure the fabric would absorb most of the gas. The company even left instructions on the website on how to make the best out of the jeans.
“To avoid flatulence escaping around the filter we recommend that you stand with your legs together and try to let your wind out slowly. When sitting, keep your knees together so that flatulence escapes through the carbon panel. If your Shreddies fit correctly and you ensure that your flatulence passes through the carbon panel all odour will be removed.”
The Shreddies jeans are available for both men and women. So those of you who prefer the men’s cut will not be limited to the skinny cuts. Currently, the jeans are only available in the classic navy blue shade of jeans but the company claims to be working on new colours as well. Order them online for £100 via the company’s website.
