Kim Jones, artistic director of Louis Vuitton menswear will be leaving Louis Vuitton after seven years.
This Thursday marks the last day of English designer Kim Jones at Louis Vuitton. Jones will be showcasing his last collection then.
He had joined Louis Vuitton in 2011 where he was appointed to design the men’s collection which is a popular section of the luxury house that was rapidly growing.
Louis Vuitton saw great things as Kim Jones had come about with his own touch on streetwear that saw the morphing of luxury and streetwear together. Dubbed the blockbuster collaboration, it was the coming together of Supreme, New York streetwear label and Louis Vuitton which was showcased in the Autumn-Winter 2017 collection show.
Without a doubt the collaboration between the duo had increased global sales of luxury personal goods in 2018, with an estimated amount of 263 billion Euro($309 billion).
What is next for Kim Jones? Rumour has it that a distinguished creative director role awaits him at Burberry as current president and chief creative officer Christopher Bailey is said to leave in March 2018. There were also talks of Jones last year with Versace.
We shall have to wait and see where this talented English designer is headed to. With talent and experience on his side, we wish him all the best.
