Furred, ruffled and striped. One couldn’t help but notice that Fendi decided to go down the rabbithole albeit as a darker and slightly more gothic Alice in Wonderland. Always one for whimsical touches as evidenced by their fluffy Fendi bag charms in pretty candy colors and crowned with furry little Mohican hairstyles, the FW16 show does not (never has) disappoint.
Equal parts whimsical and dark, fur is a luxurious addition to a generous portion of the outfits. Ranging from inky black and mahogany brown to an eye-catching artic blue with black stripes and burgundy with mustard yellow, the furs come in the funkiest eye-popping colors some even bringing to mind the Cheshire cat being draped across shoulders as a tailed stole. Fendi isn’t afraid to go big, with many of their coats bulking up models to epic furry proportions. What the other jackets and coats lacked in the fur department, they made up for with quilted details and tiny ruffles running the entire length and surface of the voluminous coats.
Ruffles continued to dominate the scene with the models sashaying out on the runway in ruffle detailed shoes.
Metallics came out to play for a while with several bronze looks featuring a sleek double breasted coat in burnished bronze, a couple of dresses in the same shade of bronze brocade and a robe-like number topped with funky garnet, white and black fur.
