On a freezing Thursday afternoon, rows of models stood motionless for 90-minutes as 20,000 people watched, in other words, Yeezy Season 3 happened.
The show, which was both a listening party for Kanye’s upcoming album ‘The life of Pablo’ as well as a presentation for his Yeezy Season 3 clothing line, has been highly anticipated and here’s what went down.
The show only begun once the guests were seated and of course only then were the Kardashians ready to make their grand entrance. Shown entering the stadium on the Jumbotron, the Kardashian clan walked in decked out in custom Balmain – did we really expect anything lesser?
The exclusive collection was an extravagant variation of white and metallic silver, with the exception of Khloe’s pink fur coat, oh and also Kim wore a blonde wig.
Lamar Odom was also present making this his first public appearance since his hospitalization.
Then the man of the moment, Kanye, came in wearing his own merchandise, a maroon shirt reading ‘I feel like Pablo.’
Soon enough the actual show finally begun with West playing the songs from his forthcoming album and the parachute that covered hundreds of models was pulled away to reveal Yeezy Season 3.
An ocean of models, of which are all people of color, remained still and solid for over an hour and well basically not do anything else. The models were given very strict rules for this performance; in fact the list of rules had surfaced on twitter, showing us how the models maintained their Yeezy mindset.
Towards the middle of a track, Naomi Cambell, Liya Kebede, and Veronica Webb came out dressed in black unitards and fur coats and joined the female models on the platform. It doesn’t have to go to say that the crowd went wild for Naomi, chanting her name so much that the model broke out of character and into a smile.
Towards the end of the presentation, West went ahead with the shoutouts and the thank yous. He thanked Adidas, Carine Roitfeld, Olivier Rousteing and not to forget, his fans.
But just when you thought it was over, he introduced a video game, titled ‘Only One.’ West played a trailer for the video game he created, which was based on his mom travelling through the gates of Heaven.
He also promised that he’s working with Adidas to produce more Yeezy sneakers and also lower prices, also that it’s a dream of his to become the creative director of Hermes. Pretty much, every announcement Kanye could have possibly made has been made last night.
