The Oscars never disappoint. In terms of fashion that is.
First up is the eternally youthful Cate Blanchett with this sea foam confection by Armani Prive and jewels from Tiffany & Co. Despite the gown’s low yet still modest V-neck, the star carried off this blossom and feather bedecked creation which complemented her glowing barefaced look and accentuated her curves in all the right places with its mermaid silhouette.
Saoirse Ronan dazzled in a flashy emerald green sequinned number from Calvin Klein Collection that would’ve made a mermaid proud. Pairing the outfit with mismatched white gold earrings from Chopard, one with pearls and the other with emeralds and jadeite.
Alicia Vikander’s strapless lemon meringue yellow dress has launched meme makers into a frenzy with them comparing her to Belle from Beauty and the Beast. We must say, the similarity is rather striking with her light yellow taffeta skirt gathered in a beautifully draped Belle-esque manner and embroidered with crystals, silver/transparent beads and mini mirrors.
Rooney Mara wowed us all again with her ability to impeccably balance stronger elements with delicate details. The starlet showed up in a lace Givenchy gown with a diamond cut out showing her toned abs and a daring split down the front of the gown. She paired this with her signature slicked back hairstyle, strong brows and red lip. Fierce.
Jennifer Lawrence’s fashionably late appearance at the event was definitely worth the wait. The actress who was nominated for her role in Joy, made nude look good in her sheer black lace gown from Dior Haute Couture. A sheer bodice with a delicate layer of spider thin black lace made its way into tiers upon tiers of glorious black ruffles made from the very same lace as the top.
