Body Extremes
Different folks, different strokes. Here are six women in varying body shapes to remind us how amazingly unique we all are in our own way.
Short & Tall
  Sasha Yusof, 25
Freelance Writer and Stylist

I have a love/hate relationship with my height. Some people say I don’t look my age... but looking like a kid means I get treated like one too. I’m really thankful to have a proportionate body though. When I was younger, I always got teased as I wasn’t growing like everyone around me. But now, I think it sets me apart. “Sasha the small one” is fine by me.

  Tengku Azura, 35
Model

Being 5 feet 10 inches has given me a chance to excel in my career. However, I see more disadvantages being my height. When I’m off work, I’d rather not be the centre of attention. Dating as well as shopping can get pretty tough too. But if you asked me if I love my body, I’d still say I do.

Plus Size & Skinny

  Esther Rani, 26
Writer

Most people say I’ve got a bigger than life aura about me. My body is pretty proportionate and my curves are one of my good physical qualities. However, I’d like to have smaller curves, and I’ve put my mind to achieving not being thinner but healthier. I hated that I had boobs and a bottom but as I grew up, I learnt to love my sexy curves.

Graphic Designer

Having a high metabolic rate is great in so many ways. However, people always assume that I’m either bulimic or have gone on drastic diets because of my skinniness. I wish I were 5kg heavier and a little curvier but so long as I’m healthy, I’m happy. It’s an easier body to manage and my skinny legs allow me to wear skinny jeans!

Lithe & Buff

  Chen Chuin Min, 30
Pilates and Yoga Instructor

My lithe body makes it easier for me to be flexible. I’ve managed to tone my body quite well due to my ballet, Yoga and Pilates training. But after giving birth, my tummy skin isn’t as firm as it used to be. There needs to be a good balance of exercise and diet to keep fit and slim. I believe that having this body also gives me confidence.

  Kong Phui Lyn, 28
Fitness Instructor, PushMore

Being a muscular woman is great for so many reasons. The body I have today is sculpted by me to look and work exactly how I wanted it to. I’m happy with what I see. My best features are my legs. They’re strong, fast and sexy. It also performs exactly how I want it to and does what it’s designed to do.
