Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur’s annual charity fundraising project this year focused on embracing the gift of life. In an event that saw the hotel break fast with 120 guests, Shangri-La Hotel announced that their efforts this year has seen a fund of RM399,823 to help children with various heart diseases.
The hotel’s annual fundraising project has always focused on providing medical funds for children. Children who benefitted from the charity project were mainly suffering from diseases such as congenital heart disease or hole-in-the-heart disease.
The funding will allow these children to receive operation treatments from hospitals immediately without delay. Many of the children have already undergone their operations when Shangri-La Hotel was celebrating the occasion as the hotel had paid the funds directly to the hospital.
Other than that, Shangri-La also donated a total of RM10,000 to two charity homes. Rumah Anak Yatim Qaseh Ibu and Tasputra Perkim received RM5000 respectively and were also present at the dinner.
Shangri-La Hotel’s charity Embrace Gift of Life programme has been held annually since 1985. The charity’s long-term commitment is to provide medical funds for children whose families need a helping hand.
