3. Only a very small percentage of Korean ginseng is classified as the top of its class
Only 0.5 percent out of the 8,000 tonnes of ginseng processed by CheongKwanJang is categorised as cheonsam or heaven-grade roots. CheongKwanJang is the world’s most well-known producer of Korean ginseng. It is part of KGC and was established close to 120 years ago. Cheonsam has been gifted to royalty such as Queen Elizabeth II, celebrities and world leaders. About half of the world’s annual total cheonsam production (7000 to 8000 cans in total) are produced by KGC. The best ginseng in the world is the cheonsam 10-ji, which retails at US$5,500 (RM22,000) for a 600gram can of red ginseng. While we may not be able to purchase cheonsam 10-ji ginseng here in Malaysia, we can get CheongKwanJang red ginseng products locally in Isetan Grocery Store, KLCC, BMS Organic outlets, and Hai-O chain stores.
