CO-FOUNDER OF 100% PROJECT
In search of that missing passion for her work, Amelia quit her job in investment finance at a bank to join Teach for Malaysia to help manage the funds the organisation has raised. While working at the organisation, Amelia discovered more than just passion is needed to make sure children get the education they deserved. She then found a connection with the teachers that were forking out 30 per cent of their money to finance their students’ project. Amelia and her co-founders, also working at Teach for Malaysia at the time, decided to start 100% Project; an independent start-up that helps teachers raise funds for school projects so they are not required to fork out their own money for students to carry out their projects.
100% Project was fashioned to connect the public, especially the corporate sectors, with school teachers to give them a chance to contribute to particular education projects. The start-up kicked-off with so much success that her team actually ran out of projects to fund. Currently 100% Project is undergoing a change, so the company is able to sustain themselves while still keeping to their mission.
