Gin and Tonics all round then
The actor, writer and producer, Ryan Reynolds, has become the proud owner of a craft gin company, Aviation Gin. OK, well, he is PART owner of the American spirit company, but still. We’ve certainly bragged over smaller things in our Instagram bio, so let’s give him this one.
He announced his new side-hustle via his out-of-office e-mail sent from the new company. The statement was typical of the actor’s tongue-in-cheek manner: ‘Thank you for your email and interest in Aviation American Gin,’ it begins. ‘I’m away from my desk at the moment but will respond the moment they give me a desk.
‘About a year ago, I tried Aviation for the first time. Since that day, I’ve spent my time finding some way to infiltrate the company.’ Clearly proud of his wares, Reynolds described the Portland-based gin as the ‘best-tasting gin in the world.’
‘I don’t know whose idea it was to allow me into the gin business, but I can assure you, there are smarter, more reasonable people in charge. ‘Thank you again for your email… If the matter is urgent, please contact my secretary, Bruce, who’ll respond the moment I get a secretary named, Bruce.’
He also took to Twitter to highlight the new pairing, ‘In the long and in no way disastrous marriage of showbiz and alcohol, so happy to announce I’m the proud owner of a gin company …(Aviation Gin),’ he joked.
The 41-year-old, according to People, will be active in the everyday running of the business and have creative oversight for the company.
Ryan’s certainly not the first celeb to start a side-hustle. Stars like George Clooney, Channing Tatum and Drake also become involved in the booze business. George Clooney recently sold his tequila brand, Casamigos tequila, to Diego for $700 million in June this year. While Drake launched his own whiskey company, Virginia Black Decadent American Whiskey, in 2016 along with Brent Hocking, the DeLeón Tequila entrepreneur.
