Fashionistas on the loose - where to find the fashion girls during NYFW after the shows are over
The fashionable flock to Fashion Week in NYC every season. The shows are packed, the clothes inspiring (both on the runways and in the audiences) and the crowds daunting. (Good luck finding a taxi after a show! I hope your heels are wearable in the subways.)
After “which show did you like the best?” the next question I always seem to get is “where does everyone go when the shows aren’t on?” I’m sure some head to the many renowned museums (the Met has an amazing Costume Institute portion) and some are, no doubt, motivated to shop for more clothes. But those in the know, know that these three places are where you want to see and be seen:
- Chelsea market. Not just a market, this is the NYFW attendees version of a mall. Those in the know, grab food to go and take it to the High Line (entrance on the second floor of the market) to eat outside and people-watch. The lobster roll sandwich is a favorite. And the Oreo cookie was invented in this building which I think is as good an excuse as any to stock up on a few of the delicious sweets offered here now.
