Fashionistas on the loose - where to find the fashion girls during NYFW after the shows are over
The fashionable flock to Fashion Week in NYC every season. The shows are packed, the clothes inspiring (both on the runways and in the audiences) and the crowds daunting. (Good luck finding a taxi after a show! I hope your heels are wearable in the subways.)
After “which show did you like the best?” the next question I always seem to get is “where does everyone go when the shows aren’t on?” I’m sure some head to the many renowned museums (the Met has an amazing Costume Institute portion) and some are, no doubt, motivated to shop for more clothes. But those in the know, know that these three places are where you want to see and be seen:
- Dream Hotel rooftop. Walking into the Dream Hotel will transport you into any fashionista’s dream. And if you head up to the PHD (PentHouse at Dream) rooftop lounge and terrace, you will certainly get an education in style. Tom Wolfe famously labeled the NY fashionable as “social x-rays” and the Dream Hotel has a great art-display that seems to take this idea to it’s logical conclusion. I love these colorful, beautiful, playful silhouette paintings:
Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld seem to be having an important conversation – at least in my dreams here at the Dream Hotel. So there you have it – an inside look on where the fashion girls go when they’re not taking notes on what’s new for NYFW Spring 2017!
