Too often do we forget how fragile and vulnerable humans can be. Especially when it comes to celebrities, the ones who are involved in an industry and a whole other universe where all eyes are on them, and to an extent – almost everyone knows “who they are”. We assume that just because of all they have to put up with, they would obviously have attained thick skin to shield them from anything and anyone. After all, it’s a dog-eat-dog world, isn’t it?
Here is where human ignorance steps in; recently singer Demi Lovato took it to Twitter to announce to the public that she is “taking a break from music and the spotlight” in 2017, with her reason being how she is “not meant for this business and the media”. We salute her for prioritizing her happiness – and it looks like Chrissy Teigen is following suit, with the model switching her Twitter account’s security settings from Public to Private, saying that she is “not strong enough anymore”. Teigen is known on social media for sparking controversial conversations, calling out important social issues, and using Twitter as a platform to defend her friends.
“It’s not haters or trolls or generally mean people,” she clarified in a now private tweet. “I just feel like I am absorbing bad shit 24/7. My body and mind cannot handle it anymore.”We don’t blame Chrissy Teigen for making this decision – despite having followers and being a public figure. She is a wife, a mother, and above all – a human being, who deserves to have control over own health and wellbeing. Like Demi, whether or not she’ll come back is another story that strongly depends on the change of attitude in our society.
