Impiana Hotel KLCC, Kuala Lumpur launches Chill by Swasana Spa
For someone with zero chills, I was surprised as to how calm I was throughout my Chill Classic session at the Swasana Spa. The Chill by Swasana Spa’s treatments are centered around reflexology and acupressure. Reflexology has been around for centuries and it usually focuses on pressures on one’s feet and hands whereas acupressure focuses on specific points of the body and with the right finger placements and techniques, one can attain total relief and recovery.
I remember rushing for my Chill Classic at Swasana from the office and when I got there I was intrigued by how calming Swasana is and before my session started, I was given a glass of tamarind drink which had a surprisingly yummy taste to it, despite it being sour.
The first thing I noticed was all the ten rooms were labelled after spices ranging from cinnamon, saffron, vanilla, nutmeg, coriander, chili, peppercorns, paprika, tatami and star anise which I found rather fascinating. After which I was shown to the Chill section also known as the whisper zone. There are a total of five bed-like seats where I was directed to lay down and the masseuse provided me with an iPod which had soothing sounds already on the playlist along with a sleeping mask.
I had to totally rely on my hear and touch sense, as she squirted some oil on her palm and started at my left foot and applied pressure where she felt was necessary and moved her way up to my calves after which to my right foot and calves. It was initially painful but I relaxed as she pressed deeper. I was on the brink of dozing off, and as I felt her stop I remember removing the sleeping mask as I thought the session had come to an end but I was reassured that it was not over yet.
Moving on to my shoulders as this time I was propped in a forward upright position where she had easier access to my shoulders compared to me lying down. With a firm grip on my shoulders she massaged away and the finale was my head and forehead and that was somehow one of my favorites besides the shoulders and feet. And just like that my one hour was up, and I was extremely sad as it felt that time went by rather fast during my session. I was given ginger tea right after my massage.
One thing I can vouch for is that after experiencing the Chill Classic I was already planning a nap, it made me so calm and relaxed and the tiredness was catching up with me.
I manage to catch up with Holly Scarrabelotti, the Spa director from Bali who brought Chill here to us. Truly enlightening as she explained to me how Chill came about and the type of Chill sessions offered. There are four types staring from an hour’s massage which I had called the Chill Classic to Chill out which is a extended version in a sense a full-body pressure point massage that aims on clearing energy pathways. Then there’s the Ultimate Chill which is a combination of acupressure and reflexology, whereby the treatment focuses on your feet, ankles, neck and shoulders for a good whole 90 minutes. The Holistic Chill is a full-body treatment and an extension of Chill Out, the focus is on specific reflex and acupressure points of the body to prevent or alleviate symptoms of jet lag etc
The prices for the former two are at RM180 and the latter stands at RM210.
Upon leaving I was given a goodie bag consisting of an aromatherapy relaxing eye pillow and an exfoliating aromatherapy body bar. If you were to ask me would i return? The answer is yes and a blink of an eye at that.
The Swasana Spa also offers services such as body treatments, facials, bath treatments and of course body massages. Their Spa packages seem impressive to.
I’ll let you be the judge of that. Do head on to http://www.impiana.com.my/ and find out more to book your appointments.
