Henry Golding is starring in yet another Hollywood film with Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively. A Simple Favour is directed by Paul Fieg, the same man that brought you Bridesmaids and Ghostbusters. The “Crazy Rich Asians” star is quickly climbing the Hollywood ladder and we couldn’t be more than happy for this British/Malaysian/Singaporean actor.
This Lionsgate thriller, A Simple Favour is set to start shooting on August 14th in Toronto. The thriller revolves around Stephanie (Kendrick) who is determined to find out the reason behind her friend Emily’s (Lively) sudden disappearance. Golding has been cast as Lively’s character’s husband.
Sounds a lot like Gone Girl yes? Well this movie too is based on Darcy Bell’s book of the same name. “A Simple Favour” sees betrayals and reversals, a dead body, and the question of who’s duping whom.
Still don’t get the picture? It starts off with the glamorous Emily asking her friend Stephanie to fetch her son after school and Stephanie obliges happily. What’s Emily like? She’s the woman that has every other woman wishing they had her life. A successful career as a famous designer in Manhattan and also a perfect mother figure. And on the other hand there’s Stephanie who’s a widow with a son in kindergarten living a lonely life in their Connecticut suburbs. She turns to her daily blog for validation and connection, something to keep her going. With Emily now in Stephanie’s life, she imagines she has a new confidante but unfortunately that isn’t quite the case. Emily ends up leaving without a trace and her husband and son are left behind picking up the pieces.
A Simple Favour is tentatively scheduled for release next year.
