Photographer Bonnie Yap spent three weeks close to the Arctic circle photographing the stunning landscape and getting closer than ever before to the dream of meeting a polar bear.
Bonnie Yap has been a photographer for 24 years and elaborates that this Arctic trip was probably one of the most exciting and awesome landscapes she has ever witnessed. “Everything I saw mesmerized me, and I am now completely fascinated by icebergs and glaciers.”
The trip gave her a sense of the fragility of the environment and truly opened her eyes. “We hear a lot about what global warming has done to the landscapes and wildlife there, but until you witness it with your own eyes, it will not feel real to you. As a photographer, I feel that the best thing I can do is to capture through my lens and share what I saw and felt at that moment. I hope that it will motivate and inspire others to think about their actions before they do anything that will be detrimental to the environment.”
