Maybe you want to go off the grid for a bit. Maybe Christmas is the time of the year that doesn't exactly bring you the societal fuzzy cheer. Maybe you need time to think and to breathe. Maybe you want to treat yourself for a year's job well done (courtesy of your Christmas bonus!)

As one of the eastern points on the Korean peninsula, Homigot gets little love from tourists – Seoul and Busan being the must-see highlights. Still, every year thousands (tourists and locals alike) gather at the piece of land which juts out into the East Sea for the first sunrise of the New Year. The Hand of Coexistence is a bronze sculpture rising up from the beach and sea at Homigot Sunrise Square, making it an eerily unique sight for visitors.
