Fly in Style with Etihad
Boarding flights that require a total of more than twelve hours requires a certain level of in-flight comfort to ensure that you look your best the moment you land. This would be especially important while travelling down to Milan for Fashion Week. So what made my journey that much better while flying Business via Etihad Airways? It was all about the experience.
After a long week trying to plan for my trip to Milan for Fashion Week, it was finally time to board my flight to Milan. My flight of choice? I went with Etihad, the official airline of fashion week events in New York, London, Berlin, Sydney and Mumbai, and the national carrier of Abu Dhabi. Check-in at the dedicated business-class counter was rapid and, after clearing security via the Fast Track channel, I was on my way to the gate to board my flight, as I didn’t have time to access the lounge. The process took approximately 20 minutes.
The business travellers are seated in a 1-2-1 configuration, with both forward and rear facing seats, so that more people can be accommodated and each passenger has direct aisle access. Now, let’s discuss aesthetics. The seats are tastefully finished in plush shades of brown, taupe and touches of gold, with graphic-print seat pillows. They stretch into fully flat beds of up to 6 feet and 8 inches. Seat and aisle dividers offer more privacy (I immediately put mine up the moment we had safely taken off, adjusted my headrest and yes, I even adjusted the firmness of the back support and cushion with a touch of a button). Storage space at the ‘Business Studio’ as each cubicle is called, is ample. There is space for everything, from concealed storage and a meal table to a separate large side table that I rested my laptop on while dining.
Before take-off, we were each given a limited edition amenity kit with designs inspired by some of the iconic cities from the airline’s extensive global network. Each kit contains a customised Etihad Airways LUXE City Guide, along with necessities such as a Scaramouche + Fandango unisex comfort kit and skincare to keep its passangers feeling fresh and rejuvinated throughout the flight. After settling into my personal space, I snuggled into my comforter, turned on the in-seat massage function and closed my eyes in bliss.
ON THE GROUND
The flight from Kuala Lumpur to Abu Dhabi was smooth. I had stuffed my face with hearty meals from the comprehensive “Dine Anytime” menu. Their drinks menu was just as extensive with everything from Champagne, wines and other alcoholic options to juices and soft drinks. Once we landed in Abu Dhabi, the Business class passengers were invited to wait for their next flight at the Premium lounge. I must say, the lounge was pure luxury. Etihad really meant it when they pledged that they would offer the very best in the hospitality industry, with great facilities you’d find in a boutique hotel. Aside from enjoying the spread of scrumptious gourmet meal in buffet style offered, I spent my
transit hours enjoying a blissful spa treatment at the Six Senses Spa. Boasting an extensive list of treatments and facials, I was spoilt for choice. I finally opted for a relaxing back treatment before stopping by the Style & Shave by Etihad for a quick manicure. Not long after, I was was styled to the nines, fully rejuvenated and all set for my connecting flight to Milan.
