Actress, model, TV host, personality, mother, and all-round Malaysian sweetheart, Lisa Surihani has been appointed as UNICEF’s latest National Ambassador! With her newly appointed status, Lisa hopes to reach a wider target audience by lending her celebrity voice to advocate for children’s rights across Malaysia.
“As a mother myself, I am more aware than ever of the care, love, and resources a child needs,” Lisa says. “The best way to strengthen Malaysia society tomorrow is to give marginalised and most vulnerable children an opportunity today.”
This isn’t the first time Lisa has actively voiced out about children rights in Malaysia. On the youth platform R.AGE, Lisa plays a role in reading out actual messages from child sexual predators. The documentary series Predator In My Phone has since gained a massive online following and managed to build up awareness for the issues and laws against grooming.
“Investing in children should not only be my personal choice, it should be our collective responsibility, and I am happy to play my part alongside UNICEF.”
