When it comes to horror movies, I'm usually the first in the group of friends to chicken out. Simply because I don't believe in plaguing my mind with crawling ghosts from TV screens or physical manifestations of blood-thirsty spirits. I feed my adrenaline seeking mind with other forms of thrillers - the psychological sub genre. Check out these horrors for Halloween!
Cast: Rosamund Pike, Ben Affleck
Directed by: David Fincher
Based on Gillian Flynn’s bestselling novel of the same title, Gone Girl tells the story of a missing person. Nick and Amy Dunne have the perfect married life to the public eye, until people start sniffing in an effort to find the missing Amy. The film expertly plays with the timeline of flashbacks of then (5 years before Amy Dunne’s disappearance) and returning back to the present (police and media pressure put on Nick Dunne).
I remember walking out of the cinema in 2014 going what? what! to my friend and considering purchasing an impulsive second ticket to watch it again. If you had to only pick one psychological thriller from this list, pick Gone Girl.
