With the opening of Malaysia’s first full fledged vegan ice cream bar, Kind Kones is all about serving you dreamy ice creams and guilt-free sweet treats catered to both the young and old while educating society about making healthier lifestyle choices.
We paid a visit to Kind Kones’ 1 Mont Kiara branch to have a chat with founder Serina Singhsachathet. This is not Serina’s first initiative to instill a healthier lifestyle choice amongst Malaysians. Originally from Bangkok, Serina is also the founder of Raisin’ the Roof, a lifestyle eatery at Plaza Damansara that takes pride in creating nutritious and delicious vegetarian dishes.
Kind Kones serves a plethora of ice cream flavours, with six fixed flavours and a constantly rotating menu. Though they are only a week old, the crowd has quickly formed favourites – the sinfully indulgent salted dark chocolate chip, the sharp zing of the tangy lemon lime sorbet, and the Chinese dessert-reminiscent black sesame. All of the flavours are free from refined sugar, artificial colouring, and preservatives – all sweetness owed 100 percent to the seasonal fruits. One of Kind Kone’s inspirations for Serina was the fact that she wanted a healthy ice cream choice for her toddler daughter. “My daughter is usually the one who approves of the flavours we come up with,” she joked.
