Enjoy an authentic Johorean Lobster Briyani Gam and Buzzy Bandung this Ramadan. Available only at Pince & Pints from the 8th May to 9th July.
Briyani Gam is a classic Johorean dish and Pince & Pint’s recipe has a rich heritage. First introduced in the 1880’s by Johor’s first Menteri Besar, Dato, Jaafar Muhammad (grandfather of Tun Hussein Onn, 3rd Prime Minister of Malaysia)- one of the directors of Pince & Pints Kuala Lumpur is a descendant of Dato’ Jaafar. Dato’ Jaafar had a chef from India who cooked for his family and lived at the Menteri Besar’s “Bukit Semyum” residence. The chef adapted Malaysian flavours into the Briyani, making it a famous Johorean dish.
Traditional Briyani is a rich, mouth-watering dish of Basmati rice cooked in ghee, onions and spices, traditionally served with beef or mutton. Pince & Pints have adapted this centuries old recipe from the 1880s into a Lobster Briyani. The Loster Briyani’s portion is very generous, served with Briyani rice, gravy, hard boiled egg, potatoes and a side of Acar Rampai (pickled salad). This dish is paired with Buzzy Bandung, a rose syrup concoction made with evaporated milk and topped with ice cream soda.
The rice is rich and flavourful paired with Briyani Gam gravy full of traditional spices. The boiled egg, potatoes and Acar Rampai create a harmonious balance to the heavy dish. The lobster is juicy, fresh, the flesh is firm and full of flavour.
The Lobster Briyani Gam is priced at RM188++ with limited portions available daily. The Buzzy Bandung is available a la carte for RM9.90++.
Pince & Pints specialises in lobster- only comfort food, choose from their New England lobster roll, lobster noodles with scallions and ginger, chilli lobster with mantou buns, or whole lobster grilled or steamed all priced at RM168++
