Think fun dining, think Babe. Michelin-starred Chef Jeff Ramsey has been delighting gastro-fans with his unconventional approach to some of our local favorites. Babe serves guest Japanese-accented tapas or “Japas” as Ramsey has coined it, he intents on focusing on a unique “fun dining” experience as opposed to the structured world of “fine dining”.
French novelist, Marcel Prout, once said that “The real voyage of discovery consist not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”
With that particular quote, Chef Jeff Ramsey has been motivated to bring to the table his latest menu. With an eclectic culinary background, which began in 1996 at Tako Grill in Bethesda, Maryland, to training in Japan with Masayoshi Kazato, the official Sushi Ambassador of Japan. After which a stint in Washington D.C with Chef Jose Andres, a protege of the legendary Catalonian chef Ferran Adria of El Bulli.It only got better for him as he was picked up by Japanese “Super-chef” Hide Yamamoto to open the 6-star Mandarin Oriental Tokyo hotel, where he earned and retained a Michelin Star rating until his departure, making him the first, and still only American chef outside of the United States, to help his establishment earn a Michelin star.
It is Ramsey’s refined repertoire in Japanese cuisine, as well as his meticulous approach to modernist cooking, that is showcased through the “Japas dining” at Babe. Having said that, the newest manifestation of the menu incorporates some of our Malaysian favorite flavors.
The twelve-course tasting menu weaves through textures and temperatures, taking you on a more than satisfying culinary ride.

The new 12-course tasting menu is priced at RM300++ per person and will be available from May 26th until June 30th. Throughout this festive menu creation, Chef Jeff Ramsey had one thing in mind which was to show diners that familiar favorites can be elevated to a whole new experience, where the quality produce is carefully treated with a modernist’s touch.
