Three X Co in Bansgar Shopping Centre
Talk about hidden gems, the Three X Co is located on the third floor of Bangsar Shopping Centre right beside a restaurant called Ben’s. You may miss it if you’re not paying close attention, but the barber chair was a hint that something was amiss and upon turning on my left where the Muhammad Ali poster is I had come across the door with just a push.
The first thing that came to mind as I entered Three X Co, was how it reminded me of the Great Gatsby. This speakeasy bar is owned by three friends Wong Wai Hung, Eugene Yeoh and Daniel Gunawan. My colleague Ai and I were fortunate to have mixologist consultant David Han present that day to make our cocktails. David is Asia’s first World Champion of the Giffard West Cup 2017 competition and currently Three X Co’s partner.
He prides himself on the ability to marry Asian elements with Western, and has definitely put us on the map with his Giffard West Cup 2017 winning.
The following drinks below served to us tasted amazing, each one having a different Asian element to it. Think ginseng and oolong tea. Not only did they taste great but the making and final presentation of the drinks had us in awe.
As you can see from the left is the Eastern Poem which was created using Oriental ingredients such as the famous Chinese cough syrup called Pei Pa Koa along with ginseng which can be seen in the beautiful motif mug. The second drink is called the Angers Potion which is a play with watermelon juice and Giffard Creme de Cacao White. There are hints of chocolate taste in this which is perefect for those who want something a little sweet. Onto the bowls, the third one is called Fairy Tales and that is what it is as it takes your palate on a pleasant journey. The last bowl on the end is the infamous Orient Express that features Oolong Tea in it.
It was honestly a struggle to decide which our favourite was that day as they all tasted so good.
Here’s a little tip, flip through the pages at the back where its empty and just point to something and voila you’ll end up with a special cocktail made by the bartender. Think of it as being in Hogwarts and not being able to see the hidden menu.
To finish off our visit that day, we had Chris show us a nifty trick involving fire, now that is definitely something you want to have your phones out to record! We’re not going to tell you what exactly he did as you’ve got to go there and experience Three X Co first hand!
