In conjunction with our first ever Royalty Issue this November, here are some of the more famous “royal” movies you MUST watch:
- The Princess Diaries (2001)
If you’ve watched this once, or ten times, you’d know how much the hilarious fictitious Princess of Genovia will get you in stsitches- every single time. Is there really anything to not love about a young doe-eyed Anne Hathaway and the ever-charming Julie Andrews? Don’t forget to watch the sequel too!
2. The King’s Speech (2010)
The multi-award winnign story of King George VI (played by Colin Firth) of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, his impromptu ascension to the throne and the speech therapist who helped the unsure monarch become worthy of it. If you missed it before, don’t miss it again!
3. The Other Boleyn Girl (2008)
Starring two of our favourites, Natalie Portman and Scar Jo, as two sisters who contend for the affection of King Henry VIII. It’s not exactly a stickler for historical accuracy- but still an entertaining, alternative take on Henry’s bevy of wives.
