Upon reaching the top of the marble staircase at The Fine Dining area of Victoria Station in Medan Damansara, one is immediately greeted by attentive staff with sunny dispositions. The handsomely furbished restaurant was recently opened to cater exclusively to diners with more refined taste and features a menu masterly crafted by acclaimed chef, Jean Luc Lundy.
For starters, the homemade smoke salmon with scramble eggs in brioche is hardly a contemporary dish, but comes in a charming presentation whereby the eggs were perfectly cooked and contained just the right amount of capers. The creamy veloute of foie gras with morels soup is however, unapologetically rich, but leaves a subtle and delicate taste.
The grilled steak foie gras with saffron sauce, cooked medium well is a dish of great refinement, the rich saffron sauce goes sublimely well with the meat. For lamb lovers, the grilled imported lamb medallions with Jean’s special tomato sauce is an unfussy dish of perfectly grilled lamb hunkered down in fresh tomato sauce that tastes agreeably homemade.
There’s a 20 minute wait for the soufflé chocolate, but after the first bite, you’ll know it’s worth the wait. Light and airy and decently sweet, it’s the perfect finishing touch.
