The 76th Golden Globes marks the beginning of awards season for the year. As we hoped, women commanded the evening with their messages of female empowerment. From stunning red-carpet looks to incredible nominations, Hollywood welcomed the new year with a bang. Here are Marie Claire Malaysia’s picks of the acceptance speeches that brought the house down (and melted our hearts):
1. Sandra Oh – Best Actress in TV Drama
We are beyond proud of the actress who finally received this much-deserved award after missing out last year. She also did a great job hosting the event alongside Andy Samberg. Following a humour-filled speech, the actress who made history as the first Asian in 39 years to win Best Actress, she dedicated her win to her parents and thanked them for their unconditional love and support. Oh also highlighted the increase in racial and gender representation in the industry. “It’s an honour to be Asian,” stated the actress who also made history for being the first Asian actress to achieve multiple wins at the Globes.
