Lifestyle writer Daphne Ng speaks to Amal Nadiah Ghazali about her debut novel Dumped, which retells stories of her breakups, mishaps, and misadventures. Read on to find out what the author thinks about the local dating scene, emotional baggage, and the first book that made her cry.
How do you let go of emotional baggage?
Some would take longer time than others, and I don’t think people are replaceable as everyone is special in their own ways. I tend to allow myself time and space to absorb and wallow, and I like the idea of moving on at your own pace. A strong support system is valuable, and aside from my wonderful family, I have close girlfriends who are strong, positive women and would often remind me that there is always something to look forward to and there is something to learn from every experience.
And oh, travel! Whenever a chapter ends, I make a point to signify it with new travels.
