Shane Filan stole the hearts of millions across the globe almost a decade ago with infamous boy band Westlife. Fast forward to 2018 and he’s set to do the same with his collection of timeless love songs in his solo career – from You and Me, Right Here, to his latest – Love Always.
In this exclusive interview, Marie Claire chats with the Irish singer-songwriter about the power of social media and getting Jennifer Lawrence to play the lead in Love Always.
For those who are unfamiliar, what is your newest album Love Always about?
It’s a collection of famous love songs that I’ve wanted to sing in my career.
Let’s talk about engaging fans in this decade. What’s the biggest difference now compared to 20 years ago?
I think fans now have a lot more access to personal lives of bands because of social media. I think artists open up a lot more to their fans. Years ago there was just magazines and you get to read an interview and that article, but you never see where their house is, or what they like to do in their spare time. There’s more of a connection between fans and artists.
