I’ve never been one for short hair. I must admit, just five months prior to my trip to Milan, i went to get my hair trimmed to just above my shoulders, and the stylist (not mentioning where, but believe me, never again!) took more inches off so its now way above where it should be. To summarize things, i went in happy, and left more than disappointed. I know most of you would think, five months is more than enough time to grow out your hair a little and it will be fine, but as most people with stubborn curls like mine would say “yeh, right.” Almost five months in and its the SAME.
So i needed a good fix pronto. And i knew just the man- Mr Chiaki Sabata. I’ve worked with this talented hair maestro many times for my shoots but ive never personally had him work on my hair. So i was super excited. Ok, a brief insight on Chiaki; Born and raised in Wakayama, Japan, Chiaki started his hair styling career at the age of 20 and packed up and headed down to Paree (Paris) to work alongside Jean Marc Maniatis as an apprentice before freelancing. After years of working in Paris, he moved back to Tokyo more than ten years ago, and is now continuing to be quite active in many areas of editorials, advertisements, and fashion.
And when i stepped into his newly opened salon Chardon Tokyo at Desa Sri Hartamas, i felt at ease. After studying my hair; its colour, texture and lenght, he decided to give me a little more volume by chopping up bits of layers on my hair, followed by a touch of ash brown colour.
Another point i liked about Chiaki’s work is that he is very detailed in what he does, he doesnt simply slap on any colour and see results, but he does it layer by layer, each part diff than the other. Which was perfect as my hair tone was not even. The end result?
Well i was definitely all set for my trip! And two weeks back from my trip, and my hair looks and feels bouncier, lighter and much more in shape! And im a fan of the Ashy tone! So when you do need a great fix for your hair, give Chiaki a visit at his salon Chardon Tokyo in Desa Sri Hartamas.
