When you’re sitting in the chair of celebrity hairstylists, who’ve touched the silken tresses of Ellie Goulding, Will Young and Diane Kruger (just to name a few), you know you’re in good and capable hands. Paul “Percy” Percival and Adam Reed of Percy & Reed paid us a visit recently to demonstrate 2 easy and effortless hairstyles that are perfect for Spring Summer 2017.
The Waterfall Braid
Having Paul braid my hair on a Monday morning gave me the “head start” I needed to power through the week. And who knew waterfall braids could be this easy? Simply start at the front section of your hair and do an inverse french braid all around your head till you reach the side nape of your neck. Secure the braid with an elastic band and tug small sections of the braid to loosen it up.
Paul’s Pro Tip: Mist a texturizing spray from root to tip to give your hair some added texture and grip before forming your braid.
The Textured Bun
One of the key trends of SS17 is to create movement and volume in the hair. With that in mind, Adam created a romantic and deconstructed textured bun for Pam. He created kinks and bends in the hair with a curling iron and proceeded to pull the curls apart to create added texture. He then gathered the hair into a simple braid and rolled it inwards to form a low bun. The front sections of hair were also braided and pinned to the back. Hair was tugged at the top to create height and loose strands were pulled out to create an effortless “undone done” look.
Adam’s Pro Tip: Spritz your bobby pins and elastic bands with hairspray as the tackiness will help them stay put all day long.
