It’s officially day 13th of the Restricted Movement Order and we all need something to feel uplifted while working at home. From joining a virtual workout video session to trying out on a new recipe, anything is possible. So why don’t you take a few minutes of your time to master doing your own manicure? It’s like mental therapy to calm your mind off negative things. Here’s what our go-to beauty person Alisha Azzudin (writer) has to say:
We definitely agree! Sure, it may not be as perfect as the pros but with a little practice and a good method, you’ll be getting it right just fine. You can start with our easy-to-follow steps to have your nails ready perfectly:
Step 1: Clean your nails with polish remover. If you don’t have one, home products such as toothpaste, deodorant, hand sanitizer, perfume, hairspray, and topcoat would be great alternatives as well. For those who don’t have any nail colors on, it is still important to run a cotton ball of the remover liquid on each nail. It will get rid of any oils or dirt before applying your polish.
Step 2: Wash your hands with soap and water. Towel dry them for better results.
Step 3: Clip your nails depending on your preferred shape. Follow by buffing your nails to have them look youthful while getting rid of the ridges.
Step 4: Apply non-oil-based cuticle remover for effective results. Push back your cuticles to help dissolve dead skin and soften the area. Remember to not remove your cuticles completely.
Step 5: Exfoliate your hands, wrists, and forearms with a scrub. This is important to eliminate dead skin cells and restore moisture. Clean it thoroughly even under your nails area.
Step 6: Wash your hands and dry them thoroughly.
Step 7: Moisturize your hands and cuticles followed by mini massages. Swipe each nail with polish remover. It is a must to get rid of the residue.
