I always love a good spa session, it gives me time out of my busy schedule to just relax and unwind. It’s also very beneficial for the soul, I find that after a spa session its like I pressed the reset button on life and emerge refreshed and positive to face the week ahead.
Mandara Spa: Sunway Resort Hotel
Mandara Massage 50 mins RM355
This is the first time I’m visiting the Mandara Spa at Sunway Resort Hotel, the spa manager e-mailed me to say that I should come 15 minutes earlier. I thought this was because I had to fill in some forms, so I made sure I left extra early to make it on time.
Now I know why I needed that extra time. The Mandara spa is not your average spa located within the hotel, It’s a 10-15 minutes walk away (I got a little lost in the forest). From the hotel lobby, I followed the signs for Mandara spa and it lead me to the poolside. I walked all the way to the end of the pool, and ended up at the hotel villas . It was a secluded forest with private villas, after walking for 10 minutes I finally approach steep stairs directing me to the Mandara spa, up the steps I go, walking within historic trees, down the end of the road I arrived to the secluded Mandara spa perched above a hill. I was a little out of breath, and greeted by my therapist with a small jug of cold ginger tea and a cold towel to freshen up.
Finally I arrived, I looked around and noticed that it felt like I was on a holiday at a resort, and started to relax. I was assigned to try out the signature Mandara massage and my therapist gave me a selection of four massage oils to choose from. I chose the relaxing one of course.
I was ushered to my treatment room. was told to take of all my clothes, and wrap myself in a sarung. Two therapist entered the room at one time, and told me to get on the the bed face down. She asked me if there were any areas I did not want to be massaged and if I wanted hard, medium or light pressure.
The massage was a very unique experience as I had two therapists massaging me at the same time, one concentrated on my upper body and the other my lower body. They smoothly moved in sync, relieving every ache I had in my body. They incorporated 5 types of techniques Shiatsu, Thai, Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Swedish and Balinese. The massage lasted 50 minutes. My body felt lighter and I felt refreshed after the massage. I was served hot ginger tea after my massage. I really enjoyed the massage, and dreaded the 15 minute walk back to the car park.
