Everyone deserves healthy, glowing skin but with exposure to the harsh Malaysian sun, stress at work, lack of sleep and a busy schedule, our skin can look tired and dull. In this review, I’ll reveal how using SK-II’s GenOptics Aura Essence as part of my skincare routine has improved the condition of my skin as well as brightening tips on to get that glow you’ve always wanted with a consistent beauty regime!
Skincare is a Ritual
I have a confession to make: I used to skip applying serum after my essence as I felt that it was too much of a hassle. After trying the GenOptics Aura Essence for close to a month and seeing the brightening results on my skin, I’ve realised it pays to take that extra step.
My skin has changed and now looks clearer and brighter. My overall complexion is even and more radiant than before. I’ve also discovered that when I turn my skincare routine into a de-stressing ritual, caring for my skin becomes enjoyable. This serum has a milky texture that absorbs well into skin. Taking the time to massage it in morning and night has become therapeutic. It’s my way of rewarding myself before I start my day and winding down after a hard day at work.
The Ingredients: Here’s Why It Works
Earlier in the review, I had mentioned that my skin looked brighter after using it, and it’s thanks to the benefits of the two ingredients: Prunus Extract and Inositol.
When Prunus Extract is combined with concentrated Pitera and the active whitening ingredient D-melano P3C, sunburn damage and melanin formation are lessened. These ‘culprits’ are the cause of hidden pigmentation spots deep within the skin that result in darkened skin and dull skin tone. Inositol, meanwhile, increases clarity in cells.
GenOptics Aura Essence works by targeting spots while they’re still hidden in your skin. Although they’re not yet visible as spots, they’re visible on skin’s surface as patchiness, dulling and darkening of the skin. Left untreated, these hidden spots will eventually appear on the surface as dark spots. What’s great about GenOptics Aura essence is that its improved formula penetrates evenly into skin so that the z from the active ingredients can be delivered efficiently, exactly where they’re needed.
How to Use It
As I was concerned with the dullness of skin caused by these hidden dark spots (that will eventually appear over time), I followed a simple skincare routine that would clear and brighten my complexion. Every morning and night, I applied GenOptics Aura Essence after cleanser and my Facial Treatment Essence. The pretty pearlescent bottle comes with a dropper that dispenses just the right amount of serum with each pump, making this a joy to apply.
I followed the simple instructions and applied the recommended one pump at each application — it was sufficient for my combination skin. With clean fingertips, I dotted the product onto forehead, cheeks and chin and smoothed it out evenly. Then, I completed my skincare with moisturiser.
The Results: Before and after using the GenOptics Aura Essence
I must say I’m pleased with the results after using the product diligently for just under a month. I’ve mentioned earlier in my review that my complexion has become clearer and brighter. My medium-toned skin has the tendency to look dull and patchy in areas. With exposure to the sun, the patchiness looks more pronounced due to those hidden pigmentation spots within my skin. After using the serum, my skin looks brighter and more even than before. Friends used to ask if I had enough sleep because of my dull and uneven complexion. Now, they comment that I look refreshed and radiant.
