The ‘what’ on skin fasting.
We’ve all seen the multiple facets that is skincare routine. It’s more than just treating your run-of-the-mill skin types, be it oily, dry, or combination. No. These days, we have brands promoting from an excessive 12-step skincare routine, to the very minimal face wash-toner-moisturizer situation. Are your products 100% natural, and are they cruelty free or vegan-friendly?
Lo and behold, a new trend maketh its way into our radar.
After some light reading before bed, I stumbled on a (maybe not so) new skincare trend: skin fasting. This trend throws, quite literally, everything out of the window, and I mean your skincare products! The idea is to take a break from your day-to-day skincare routine in order to improve your skin’s function. Apparently, this is meant to “detox” your skin and allow the skin’s natural maintenance system to work on its own— sans the skincare aides.
Doing a skin fast is a busy girl’s dream. You can either skip your moisturizer one night, or go all in by going skincare free for a few days. That being said, I am totally against people cutting sunscreen out of the equation.
