#1 Helichrysum Essential Oil
Also known as immortelle or the everlasting flower, the plant grows in temperate climates and is known for its healing qualities – one of the key components in the plant that helps with healing is arzanol, an active ingredient with healing and skin-calming qualities.
Do note however, that there are many species of helichrysum and not of all them have the same benefits. The species of helichrysum popularly used for skincare is Helichrysum italicus that grows in the Mediterranean and has a beautiful sweet floral scent. The oil from helichrysum is said to be antifungal, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial and has been used for generations to ward off rashes and inflammation and heal the skin, but there is no concrete research yet to support this.
How to use: Dilute to five percent for use on skin using a carrier oil. You can also buy a commercially prepared product with helichrysum oil as one of the ingredients.
Where to get it: You may buy the oil online at https://www.edensgarden.com/products/helichrysum-italicum. One of the most well-known products featuring helichrysum as a star ingredient is L’Occitane’s Immortelle Divine Youth Oil (RM448).
