When it comes to finding your ideal career, we all want to do work that we love. And for me, turning my love of fashion into a full-time job is quite literally my version of living the dream. With activities that range from overseeing fashion shoots to building brand partnerships, attending Fashion Week to interviewing fashion designers and celebrities, no two days are alike for me. Here’s a peek at just one.
7am: I wake up early every day, although not really by choice. Admittedly, I need a lot of nudging to get up every morning. My little rascal sphinx Damien would routinely either sit on my chest or nudge me with his paws to wake me up. I would stare at my closet for a couple of minutes before deciding on an outfit. 9:00am: My days are always different, but it almost always starts with a cup of hot chocolate. This morning, we had an editorial meeting to discuss the line-up for our upcoming issues: October is our Couture issue and we have a lot of things we’re psyched about – can’t wait to see it on the shelves! 11:00am: I’m frantically clearing off my emails before heading out to a lunch appointment with the fun and spirited PR maven of Dior Malaysia, Natalie Yip at an unapologetically raw restaurant downtown called Chocha. 3-5pm: More meetings, a one-on-one with my Editor Kim, more hot chocolate (I can’t really take coffee, so bitter chocolate gets me through the day) and then creating content for my pages. Also, I’m in planning mode for our upcoming fashion spread and my upcoming trip across the seas for Fashion Week. 6:30pm: I wrap up a couple of my pages before dashing off like a mad woman to make it for Salvatore Ferragamo’s collection preview and party in KLCC. 12:30am: Sleep! Or at least, I try to.
