Retail therapy never felt this good. Get ready to indulge yourself with some amazing products that don’t just look good, but are also great for the environment

Ahhh….retail therapy. We’ve all been there. In today’s modern society filled with stress and excess consumerism, retail therapy is commonplace—filling our house and wardrobe with shiny reminders of our emotions and turmoil. And try as we might to stand our ground and hold our forces together, we succumb, ultimately, to the persuasive songs of the tantalizing siren known as Shopping. Our will broken; overtaken by a momentary high that aims to distract and fill our senses with euphoria. For some, the euphoria lingers on like a silky cloud on a beautiful midsummer’s day. For others, the feeling is fleeting, and all that is left is the heavy heart of remorse and regret…till the next purchase.

So why do we do it? Some of us might cringe, sigh or giggle at the mere mention of retail therapy but regardless of one’s opinion on this highly engaging and addictive pick-me-up behaviour, extensive research has shown that this simple act of indulgent consumption could have positive implications on emotional well-being. Instant, gratifying joy! What more could we ask for?

Of course, encouraging excessive splurging of hard-earned money is not our mantra (hello new Jimmy Choos), nor do we encourage our readers to bury their heads in the sand by buying more things they do not need to fill a void. Research has also shown negative outcomes from this enjoyable sport—the most common include evoking feelings of regret and guilt.

But if you ever feel the urge to treat yourself for whatever the occasion (whether you are feeling a little blue or celebrating a promotion), we think these brands are right up your alley. Why? Not only do they make you look amazing, they are also ethical and sustainable! So go on and indulge a little, knowing you’ve treated yourself to some eco friendly products that are made with the best intentions in mind.
